Time To Set Some Solid Goals For Smarter Wealth

     Powered by Max Banner Ads
  • Welcome To Smarter Wealth, You can win $150 this month just by commenting on this blog. You can check out details by clicking here

I change goals more often than I change my underwear. But I have decided that I need to change this and I need to set some solid goals I can work towards for the next month or two and try and see some achievements which I can celebrate with you guys.

Setting goals is an important step towards moving forward in your blog. Setting goals helps you focus and helps drive you blog towards success. Joe wrote a great post recently about Focusing.

If you have no goals then you have nothing to work towards and you just float around wherever the internet sea takes you. So it is important to set goals so you have direction. Also it is important to set goals that are achievable. I heard the saying “Long term goals are a great short term excuse”. It is great to have long term goals but you need to have achievable short term ones too.

So here are the short term goals for the next 2 months on Smarter Wealth

200 pageviews per day - This is twice what I am getting at the moment and at 200 pageviews per day I should be earning at least $1 per day in advertising from this site.

50 RSS subscribers - My RSS subscribers are jumping from 20-30 and have been for the last month. I have the goal of gaining 50 RSS subscribers in the next 2 months.

3,000 Backlinks - Links to your site count as a ‘vote’ towards your site’s awesomeness. Currently I have 1,250 backlinks and I plan to increase that to 3,000 in the next 2 months by various means.

PageRank - I don’t really understand page rank yet and I think that only update every 3 months. But at the next update I want to have a Google Pagerank of at least 1/10 (at the moment it is 0)

Flip 2 Websites/Month - I want to flip around 4 websites in the next 2 months and make about $100 on each

Get 200 email subscribers - Currently I have about 75 email subscribers from giving away my free Flipping Websites Ebook. I plan to give away at least one other report and get at least 200 subscribers in the next 2 months.

Write 1 post per day - That is 61 posts in the next 2 months. I want each and every post to be top quality.

So they are solid goals that I will be working towards over the next little while and you can keep me accountable to them. I will definately update you as each one is achieved.

If you have set goals for your blog then please post them in the comments section below because I want to hear about them

Nice list of goals. I know my goals lack at times and I had to refocus my efforts there too.

Nice set of goals; by putting a specific timeline to your goals it makes them more achievable or at the very least you’ll have a better idea of where you’re going wrong and how to fix is.

@ Compounding Dividends - Do you really think I can smoke these numbers in the next 2 months?? Anything you think I can do better to make these happen?

Ryan - I have no specific ways, you have more experience in the Blogging game than I do. I just pulled up your archives and looked at the comment levels. This month is killing last month. Even if you don’t run a competition next month I’d assume the momentum is going to carry over. October should be bigger than September and November will exceed Octobers results. It’s all about momentum and the compounding effect. Just keep pumping out the killer content. If you build it they will come

@ Jonathan - Thanks heaps for all the help man. These tips are really killer. I like how you posted the amount of traffic you can expect from them. Do you really think you can get 600-1,000 traffic for just one comment on a blog?
Also about the ebook picture. It doesn’t have alt tags because it sucks. I am getting a new one made really soon…but then I will put alt tags in definately.

@ Jake - Good to see your name and not just “Compounding Dividends” its nice to relate to a person..not a generic website. Thanks for your confidence in me. This really helps and is pushing me towards becoming even better

@ Ethan - Hope you stick around to see them come true ethan

@ Matt - I do actually have a timeline. These goals need to be completely by the last day of october (about 2 months). But thanks for the tips

It’s add one comment daily on a top site. That is 30 comments monthly. On problogger a well thought out comment drives +/- 27 to 100+ views. Darren did a post on it where he checked link activity and so on.

Alt and Title tags are minor seo hack.
When it comes to search engines. Alt and title carry more weight than bold and italic. Put your keywords into alt and title.
    Alt=”Make Money Online”
    Title=”Smarter Wealth Starts Here”

You can add title tags to all your links, this creates a little hover box which gives some additional info to the user and search engine.

@Ryan: It’s good to have goal to know which direction you are going. I don’t think the goal you are setting is unachievable at the rate you are moving. But $1 day from 200 uniques may be too much of asking from adsense….affiliates would be a better alternative if you ask me…

@ Sam - Earning a good passive income from private advertising is what I am aiming for also. But it takes so long to build that. I know I have to do other things in the mean time like flipping websites and affiliate marketing in order to make enough money to keep going until my advertising earns me enough

@ Melvin - Definately set some goals that are achievable and work towards them

@ Jake - Thanks loads for the backlink. I will give you a backlink as soon as possible also. I am stretched for time but I will do my best. Expect one soon

@ Jonathan - I never knew that you could use alt tags for links. I am not super knowledgable on the coding of stuff. But I will definately try this to increase search engine ranking

@ Hussein - Pagerank is mysterious and getting the link love is easier said than done.

@ Yan - Yeh I think $1 per day from 200 pageviews is a little over what I can expect from adsense. I realise that now. What amount of traffic do you think I will need to be earning $1/day from adsense?

@ Deadly PJ - I don’t really understand your first line. How much are you making with 15,000 pageviews per month??

Pagerank is determined by the number of quality links you get from higher pageranked sites. For instance, you would need like 100 PR1 sites linked to you to get a PR1 OR like one PR4 site linking one way to your site to get a PR1.

img scr gets alt tag and title tag
For images, ALT is what appears if your image doesn’t load, or so blind individuals can hear what they are supposed to be looking at. As is with TITLE tag which gives the mouse over description of what is being viewed.
links get TITLE tag which gives the mouse over description of what link is.

    @ Ryan

Last week of August, this guy who works for a publishing company asked me for possible placement of his ad on my blog. And so you would see his 125 by 125 flash/graphic (for 6 months placement) on the right-side bar of my blog. Then 2 weeks later, he asked for text-link (for 2 months placement). Sum them up using my rates on the advertise section of my blog, they would add up to more than $400.

    @ Pangeran
This is where I got really lucky. I didn’t do any advertising at all or send those “man I badly need cash, please purchase an ad placement on my blog” kind of email. I’m assuming he got to visit my blog via comments I send to other personal finance blogs. I’m really hoping more private ads will come alone, the thing is, I started sending those “man I badly need cash, please purchase an ad placement on my blog” email just this week but nobody has responded yet!*laughs*

That’s what I am talking about, GOAL SETTING. It is mission critical to your success.

My favorite goal of yours is writing one article per day.

I was just thinking before I read this post that I need to be writing at least one article per day. I have too many blogs I am working on not to and end up in a situation where I am rushing to get the content to the web or missing my deadline.

All about to change. Thanks for sharing your goals with us!
