There is a dream inside many of us to get out of our 9-5 job and becoming a full time entrepreneur by starting a business, becoming a writer or simply making money from your favourite hobby. Many of us do not take the step because it is too big of a leap from 9-5 to full time entrepreneur and often the risk is too great in we fail (you could lose your home, car, contents, or end up with a huge debt).

I want to offer you a alternative solution to your dream. Why not gradually become a full time entrepreneur? What does this mean? It means starting a side business and slowly increase the amount of time you work on it as your income increase.

For me personally I want to become a writer and communicator. I am currently studying at bible college to become a minister and I have some spare time on my hands. I have started writing this blog in my spare time. Once I finish college I will go to work full time, then as my income increases online I will begin to work less days 9-5 and become an entrepreneur one day a week, then two, then three. For example is I am earning $600/month online then that is about $150/week which is the equivalent of one full days work 9-5. I can therefore afford to work just 4 days and be an entrepreneur one day. Then when my income reaches $1,200 I can take two days off. When it reaches $1,800 I can take 3 days off. Then when it reaches $2,400 I can take 4 days off work per week to work as a writer. Then when I begin earning $3000/month I can quit my job and be a full time entrepreneur.

Here is the strategy for time spent being an entrepreneur.

Spare Time –> Part Time –> Full Time

You do not have to become an entrepreneur full time straight away. For me as a writer making money online I can do this gradually. The same can work in many situations where you can start a side business in your spare time and slowly build it up as you gain customers and gain more and more income.

    Here is what you need

    1. A Can Do Attitude
A ‘Can Do’ Attitude is necessary if you want to become a full time entrepreneur, but it is even more necessary if you wish to gradually step into doing what you love to do. You need to be willing to learn and apply your skills. The hardest thing for me in gradually shifting is getting discouraged when my business isn’t doing as well as I would like. My Can Do Attitude pushes me through these hard times and reminds me that I can achieve what I have dreamed to achieve. A Can DO Attitude also keeps you thinking of new ways your business can perform better

    2. A Little Creativity
A little creativity goes a long way. When working in your spare time you need to be as efficient as possible and this involves being creative. Creativity will lead to to think of better ways to do things which will bring in better results. Try brainstorming ideas on a piece of paper, or try bouncing ideas off friends. When you are bouncing ideas off friends one idea will spark another which will spark another. Like dominoes falling on top of each other, or a snow ball ever growing into a huge ball of snow and ice as it rolls down the hill.

    3. Willingness to Work Hard Now
When starting off you will be working a 9-5 job full time AND working on your business ventures part time. This means you need to be willing to work fairly hard in the beginning as it is not until you can start working part time because your income has increase that the workload begins to drop. You need to be willing to work hard in the early days and you need to be passionate about what you do. Otherwise you will get burnt out and give up

    4. Outsourcing
Many people in the early stages of business never even think of using outsourcing. This is foolish. www.getfriday.com offers great rates for a virtual assistant (an assistant that doesn’t have to be there, but does things for you online). As soon as you can afford it you need to outsource the tedious jobs and get someone else to do them. This way you can keep your focus and think creatively to earn more money. Why spend your time doing something that will earn you $7/hour when you can pay someone else to do it and you can spend you time on the things that earn you $%0-$100/hour.
Remember 20% of what you do will bring in 80% of the results. So consider outsourcing that tedious 80% to someone else and focus on the 20% that will bring in the majority of your results.
