Over the next 5 months I will be putting a lot of focus into increasing the amount of traffic coming to my site. I want to grow the amount of people reading my blog, either from the website of from the RSS feed. I am doing this for a number of reasons

    1. To increase reader conversation in comments
    2. To increase my income as a webmaster/blogger

I will be employing a number of tactics over the next 5 months in order to increase the amount of traffic coming to my site.

These are the tactics I will be employing:

    1. Increase The Amount of Posts I do Each Week
I used to write just 4 posts per week (mon, tues, thurs, sat), but now as I want to increase traffic I understand that I need to increase the rate at which I am publishing new material. I will now be posting a MINIMUM of 6 posts/week (none on sunday). However, as I am dilligent I am hoping to post around 7-14 times per week.
This means you will have more content, and also that people will be able to find me easier.

    2. Focus More on the Search Engine Optimisation of Each Post
Many of the posts I have written in the past I have written with little or no thought to Search Engine Optimisation (that is: the way people will find my post through search engines). So now on each of my posts I plan to spend at least 5 minutes each thinking up terms people could use to search for me, and include them in the post.

    3. Use StumbleUpon Advertising
I am trialing stumbleupon advertising to see if it is worthwhile. It costs 5cents per customer they send to your site. So for $5 you can get 100 visitors to view your site.

    4. Post Comments on Other Blogs
I am an avid reader of many blogs (such as www.getrichslowly.org, www.thesimpledollar.org, www.zenhabits.net and www.problogger.net just to name a few). As I read these almost everyday I will also be posting comments (with links where helpful) to drive more traffic to my site.

    5. Make my Articles Available on www.ezinearticles.com
You can make your articles available for people to use on this site, and whenever someone uses that article in their ezine or on their website they MUST provide a link back to your site. Offering my blog posts and articles for others to ’steal’ I can generate traffic back to my site.
You have to be careful with this though as it can effect your search engine ranking.

    6. Digg and Stumble my Posts
I am going to use the social marketing sites Digg and Stumble Upon to promote each individual blog post. I am also going to ask me devoted readers to digg and stumble my posts to give them more exposure. (You can digg or stumble this post at the bottom of the post)

    7. Reply to Peoples Comments and Emails
Whenever people ask questions or make worthwhile comments on my blog I am going to do my best to respond to them. This way it creates a sense of relationship and community

Total visitors in June was 931…I am hoping to break the 1,000 barrier in July

Hey Ryan, some great tactics you have planned out there. Hopefully they will convert to traffic well :) One thing about the posting more, I honestly think your current posting frequency was fine, but if you want to increase then go ahead. Just remember that it’s better having 1 great post then 2 good ones. ;)

    Hey Josh,
I wanted to increase my posting frequency for many reasons.
Firstly to increase my content so I get more traffic from search engines
Secondly to increase the amount of subscribers to my blog (many people were leaving after signing up when I was posting just 4 times per week, but I have noticed an increase in my subscribers since increasing my frequency)
Thirdly, it allows people to come back to my site more and more often because they know there will be more content there.
Fourthly, it allows me to do a larger and then a smaller post, and to incorporate some reader questions in there as well.
Hope all this helps explain my reason for changing and I hope you will like the increased content
